Equipment Contest!!


Do you want to win the use of some special equipment, usually reserved for those with 3000+ CKKs!? Then Read on!

We are now resuming the Equipment Contest, which many of the veteran players may remember! Here's how it works...


Rulah needs lots more new equipment for her shop, located in the Tribal Grounds, as more warriors reach new levels of cannibal killing!
So here's the deal...

Come up with some original names and descriptions for rings, amulets, gloves, helms, cloaks, and boots, that fit in with the Lyrean theme, which is a 10th century, rain forest setting, and if your idea is used, you will be given the resulting equipment for two weeks! (winners who have the required number of CKKs to qualify for the equipment they submit will be permanently gifted one item if three or more of their submissions are winners in a given month)
The descriptions need not be perfect. They will be modified as needed, but the more detail, the better!
**Remember to include what the items DO/how they are useful to the owner in battle.**

Of course, feel free to include your own, custom colours!
The stats are already set, so no need to worry about those.
So, do some research. Learn about the flora and fauna of tropical climes, and maybe brush up on ancient religions of rain foresty areas, and put your imaginations to work!
Making up totally fictitious religions, heroes, mythical entities, animals, plants and such is completely legit too, just as long as its believable!
Remember, these will ALL be items rated for 3000 or more CKKs, so a piece of prize equipment will give you not only some amazing stat boosts, but a glimpse of what will be available to you at higher CKK levels.

We have evidently not switched servers. Instead, Magpie believes that our issue may come from some bad code that was introduced into our game. She is going through the code to see where it might be, but it is slow going.

First of all, we'd like to thank you ALL for your patience and help with figuring out the issues here. Your regular reporting went a long way to show where the problem lay.
We will be switching to a new server company in the VERY near future, which should put an abrupt stop to all this booting and server crashing nonsense! We will post an update as soon as we know exactly when the chang-over will happen, along with information about whether/how long the site will be down (it should be absolutely no longer than 24 hours, and probably a lot less!).
Again, thank you all and we look forward to providing you a better gaming experience quite soon!

Attention, Citizens of Lyrean!


Is the regular routine of life in Lyrean proving to be not quite enough excitement for you? Would you like more of a challenge? Perhaps something to feed your competitive streak?

If so, we have just the place for you!

Our resident Supreme Cannibal King Killer, Grabacr, has founded two Game Houses for those players who want a bit more challenge than average.


The first of these, The Original Game House, is the entry level House, where players start out.


Here is how game play works:

You are given 4 Objectives each Monday which you have to complete by Sunday (12am, Monday morning is the cut off*). Successfully complete all of them to earn a Development Point. Get the required number of them to rise in rank. The higher the rank, the bigger the payout at the end of the week. On Sunday, each player will receive a YOM to come to the Coffer, and receive your payout. If you don't receive it within 5 minutes, the payout will be saved in the Game Bank. On Thursday I will throw a Super Objective which is more difficult than the normal ones and it won't be told until you've decided to accept. The Super Objective can be done instead of the 4 regular objectives, and it must be completed within the day, that is Thursday and you'll get your Development Point. Failure to complete the Super Objective results in waiting for next week's objectives. Players start in the Class D4, and the further you work your way up, the more gold and gems you'll receive.

There are various types of Objectives, to make things more interesting. They are colour coded. The Objective types and explanations can be found in Grabacr's bio.

Here is a sample of Objectives for a given week:
(they will be adjusted to be feasible for all current players, so don't worry if you are a lower level)

Objective 1: I Accept Your Challenge (PvP a 300+ CKK player)
Objective 2: Bloody River (Kill 10 Players)
Objective 3: Too Strong (Pick up 3 Tarot cards but NOT the Strength Card)
Objective 4: Card Fraud (Kill the Gypsy 3 times)


Access to the Game House can be obtained by YOMing either Grabacr or Moreta and asking for a key.
You are not obligated to play right away, if you would prefer to simply observe at first, but jumping right in is highly encouraged. After all, there is nothing to lose and lots to gain, and it is fun!

The second House, Game House II: The Infinite Quest, is only accessible to those players who have achieved C Rank in the Game House. Once you achieve that rank, you are automatically given access to Game House II.

For those paying attention to the Tribe War: You may notice that the points just did a major jump down. At the beginning of the month, I had to manually reset the Tribe War, and I didn't reset the points. Moreta brought it to my attention, so I could fix the points.

SIte Rules Reminder - NPCs

From Rule 3:
Due to abuse of the NPC module, the following rule is in place: NPCs should be limited to secondary characters that are used to enhance the storyline of the main characters or to supplement Realm-wide storylines. Any NPC that is not connected to a player character can only be played in the Gardens or in private areas (such as Dwellings).

From Note 3:
NPC/SQUIRE/PET Module Rules:
If you pretend to be another player you will be banned for 3 days. If you abuse the npc chat at all its a 3 day ban for the first offence. A week ban for the second and a perma ban for the third!

Please remember these rules. Also, please do not use the NPC/Squire/Pet to play your alt character.
PHP warning in Preferences - redux

We are aware that there is a PHP warning showing up in the Preferences. We don't know why it happened, but it's from the Ramius' Blessing module. Unless we uninstall it, the PHP warning will continue to appear until we can get it fixed.

Unless there is a loss in functionality, you don't need to petition about it.

Rule breaking

Folks, if you feel that someone is breaking or has broken the site rules, it is up to you to report it. The staff is not on at all times, and it can be difficult to catch everything that occurs in the various chat areas and in YoMs.

In the past, we had a growing feeling of anger and dissent towards the site (and staff) due to people supposedly breaking rules left and right, especially with Godmoding.

As we said before, we will say again: If you do not report it, you can't assume we know about it to address it.

This is especially true of Godmoding. If there is no complaint about it, we assume that all -involved- parties consented to the scene.

One of our players passed along a request for the following public service message. Due to the seriousness of the issues involved, we're honoring it.

Whenever you are in a car, whether driving or as a passenger, please make sure you wear your seatbelt. In the case of an accident, it could be the difference between a trip to the emergency room and a trip to the morgue.

If you're driving, do not use your phone. Whether talking or texting, driving and phone use is a lethal combination. A moment's distraction could mean your life.

Please take this to heart.
